OctoTea 16 will be one of the largest annual event hosted by the Octopus Club, a grassroots, 100% volunteer fund raising arm of AIDS Services of Austin dedicated to raising awareness and funds for the Paul Kirby Emergency Assistance Fund.

The Center for Disease Control estimates that more than 1.2 million Americans are living with HIV and tens of thousands of new cases are diagnosed each year. More than 6,000 of our neighbors in Central Texas are affected. Effective new drug therapies are keeping people with HIV healthy and dramatically reducing the death rate. The result of these two trends is that more people than ever before are living with HIV and AIDS. The challenges are immense for these folks. Due to the inability to work or to the costs of health care and medications, our neighbors with HIV and AIDS sometimes need our help when they face a financial crisis. When they have nowhere else to turn, the Paul Kirby Emergency Assistance Fund is a helping hand of last resort. Your company can help ensure that the helping hand is there, stabilizing them and getting them back on their feet, assisting them with the basic essentials like rent, utilities, medications, and food.

OctoTea is unique because volunteer host contributions cover the cost of the event. This allows every cent of your corporate contribution as well as every penny of the ticket price and every dollar spent at the event to go directly into the Kirby fund.
