Counting Beans & Stuff

OctoTea 16 Put to Bed -- Almost but not quite...

There are still a few beansleft  to count, but in answer to everyone who has asked how much money OctoTea raised for the Paul Kirby Fund, the answers will be forthcoming very shortly.  We're almost done, and hope to make the announcement later this week.  Even in the rain, the event was a success.

For anyone who has been called to pick up your silent auction winnings, please make arrangements with Marcus Sanchez to get them this week.  You can contact him at octoteadance@gmail.com, and put "Silent Auction" in the subject line.  We've already had a great response from folks who invested in some of our one-of-a-kind offerings. Thank you for shopping with OctoTea!

Our heartfelt thanks to everyone who participated in OctoTea 16 in any way, from the ticket buyer right on up.

How about that AIDS Walk?

Yoo Hoo -- Yes You -- Procrastinators

Think You'll Get  Around to Buying that Ticket Online Sometime?

You'd better think quick -- because online sales end tomorrow -- Thursday -- at noon, you'd better get with it.  The links will be deactivated at noon sharp.  Other opportunities for a less than door price -- $65 -- are:

TapeLenders  $50 up until the start of OctoTea at 5:30 pm.

Bobby Cook's Amateur Strip-off (Rain on 4th)  10pm until ?  Spot an octopus walking around and he'll sell you a $40 ticket.

Bobby Cook's All-Star Strip-off (Oil Can's) 10 pm until ?  Again -- look for an octopus.  Last chance for $40 tickets.

Stop in Rain on 4th between 3 pm and 5:30 pm -- You can buy a $50 ticket from an octopus, get a drink special, catch the shuttle, etc.

So there you go.  Tickets are going fast, this week, but you still have a few chances left.

Parking Options:  Remember, there's no parking at the MACC

Where do I Park for OctoTea 16?

Why, we have the answers right here:

As a lot of you know, there isn't much in the way of parking at the Mexican-American Cultural Center (MACC).  We've solved that potential problem, though, with the good work of parking committee chairperson,  Ann Hargrove, there are a number of options open to Tea-Goers.

Alert!  - Date Change!

From the Desk of Lew Aldridge:

Be a Host: Make OctoTea 16 Your Party!

EVERY PENNY FROM TICKET SALES, RAFFLES, AUCTION, AND CORPORATE CONTRIBUTIONS GOES TO THE PAUL KIRBY EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE FUND.

Ever wonder how the Octopus Club can put on such great parties, and still honor this pledge?

Two reasons: Hosts and Hostesses.

Due to the generosity of our hosts and hostesses, the Octopus Club continues, year after year, to make good on our promise to donate all other proceeds to the Kirby Fund. Your host contribution helps pay for the costs of the party so every penny spent by the guests goes to help a neighbor living with the challenges of HIV/AIDS.

Host levels start at $100! Please join in this year as a host.

We can't make it happen without YOU.

Never Hosted OctoTea Before? -- Check Out This Offer

Special OctoTea 16 Offer for First-Time Hosts

So maybe you've thought about hosting in the past, but just didn't get around to doing it, didn't quite know how to sign up, or thought it might be too expensive?  Forget about all that.  This offer will show you how simple it is, and you'll find out for yourself that being able to say, "I helped to put on OctoTea 16," is great and important fun.

If you sign up to host anytime from today -- Thursday Sep. 15th through Thursday Sep. 22nd at midnight -- you'll get an extra ticket to OctoTea 16.  That means that even as a host at the $100 level, you would receive two tickets and a t-shirt.  That's a $115 value at least.  Higher host levels receive more perks.  The quickest and easiest way to learn about hosting is to go to our OctoTea Host Page  and you can (a) identify the host level that's right for you; (b) sign up online or (c) contact one of the host committee to pledge.  Any one of those methods will get you an extra tickets.

True -- An Octopus Does Have It's PRIDE!

It Was A Big PRIDE Weekend for the Club

Saturday was a big day for the Octopus Club.  First our hearty crew made their appearance in the PRIDE Parade in the morning, some walking with the banner, others motoring along in a gorgeous convertible supplied by a great sponsor, Marc Leitman at Five Star Motors.  They were wearing the club's brand new t-shirts and showing off our new logo, designed by Head Octopus Billy Brown.  Then at noon, we opened our first, as far as I can tell, booth at a PRIDE Festival.  We sold tickets and raffle tickets for OctoTea 16, and told everyone who would listen about our club and it's mission.  In spite of the heat, it was a rewarding day, catching up with old friends and meeting some new ones.
